Yu Leng leads a boutique economics consultancy that combines quantitative and qualitative research, political economy perspectives and deep-dive analysis; and focuses on policy and trade questions on Southeast Asia commodities in global supply-chains, ESG, climate change, conservation, and more. She is Senior Fellow (Sustainability) at the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, and she has independent director roles at two public-listed companies (Malaysia, Belgium; a member of nomination & remuneration committees and chair of a sustainability committee) and at two non-profits (the Rimba Collective forest conservation fund and BCSD Malaysia). She is well networked with the agroforestry economic sectors and ESG at a high and working level; as well as regional agribusiness and Asian family groups.

Previously, Nithiyah was a law lecturer at a private institution, where she facilitated the deliverance of 21st-century student-centric lesson plans to pre-university students on subjects such as Contract Law. Having also led a team of researchers at YPolitics, an awareness-building movement, she has curated online campaigns on social justice issues, with a focus on indigenous self-determination and minority empowerment. To pursue her growing interests in sustainable supply chains and effective climate action policies, Nithiyah joined Segi Enam Advisors in May 2023 as an intern and, subsequently, as a Research Associate. She has assisted with data analysis, GIS and policy research for various projects and topics, including Thailand’s palm oil, China’s climate finance flows in SEA, green hydrogen, Malaysia’s rubber industry and labour compliance issues, amongst others.

Dr TAN yew ai
Armed with a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Physics, Yew Ai is an expert in sustainability, conservation and certification, with specialization in analytical chemistry and environmental assessment. She has worked for over 35 years in environmental assessment including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of edible oil products and sustainable development, and palm oil research (method development: chemical as well as instrumental, including laser-induced fluorescence and phenolics). Yew Ai has served on numerous committees, including the Codex Alimentarius Committee, ISO/TC 34/SC 11, and SIRIM Technical Committee on Climate Change. She was part of various environmental projects including the Cradle-To-Gate LCA of refined products, commercial, and retail products. She has 22 patents filed and over 100 papers in journals, proceedings, and book chapters, as well as numerous environmental-related publications.

With over eleven years of working experience in the field of sustainable palm oil, Gwenedelynne is equal parts experienced and passionate about sustainability issues within the industry. She was the Sustainability Manager at Genting Plantations Bhd, and has contributed toward the national and international recognition for sustainable palm oil her company has received, particularly with regard to certifications under the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), and Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) schemes. Gwendelynne also serves as an active member in the Technical Working Group for Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil and the Malaysia National Interpretation of the RSPO Principle and Criteria 2018, and is affiliated with the RSPO Standards Review Task Force 2018.

Norashikin graduated from Oxford, majoring in Mathematics. Her 28 years of experience in banking and finance marks her as a seasoned practitioner in the industry. Her well-rounded experience includes asset management, insurance and Islamic finance; with notable contributions in the area of global markets with experience in diverse global financial institutions. She holds a Masters degree in Actuarial Science as well as Islamic Banking & Finance, and is also a CFA and Chartered Islamic Finance Professional charter holder. Norashikin watches trends in Islamic, responsible and sustainable financing at a high and project level.
