Segi Enam Advisors principal Khor Yu Leng was invited onto BFM’s Morning Run with Shazana Mokhtar and Wong Shou Ning (19 December) to discuss the Malaysian Palm Oil’s No-Deforestation Pledge as well as the implementation of sustainability rules within the Malaysian palm oil industry.
This comes after an investigative report by Malaysiakini showed that new palm oil plantation projects collectively comparable to half of Penang Island have been approved after 2020, running contrary to the Malaysian government’s pledge to cap total planted area for oil palm to 6.5 million hectares and additionally against the Plantation and Commodities Ministry’s recent no-deforestation policy.
